By Graham Rogers | Uncategorized

So we will endevour to fit you in with an appointment as soon as possible. We tend to get Student lets to clean just before the Students go back to University and this is the reason we are busy.

AGA Repairs

By Graham Rogers | Uncategorized

We have started carry out the following minor repairs on AGAs:

1. We can replace the oven door ‘white’ ropes.

2. We can replace the ‘white’ rope on the top lids – please note this must be rope and not the metal gauze which we don’t replace.

3. We also sell plastic washers which are put on the hinges on the doors to stop the enamel being marked on the hinge – it can easily wear and becomes unsightly and is especially noticeable once the AGA has been cleaned.

4. We can replace the plastic (on the newer AGAs) and the metal (on older AGAs) heat insulators on either side of the ‘spring’ lid handles ; this will stop them from heating up and make it your AGA easier to use.

Oven Repairs We Carry Out.

By Graham Rogers | Uncategorized

We do carry out the following minor repairs on ovens:

1. Repairs to Oven Door Seals: We can put door seals back together if they fall apart. We can  put on new seals if the oven needs a new one, we will order the seal once we have got the model number of the cooker.

2. Repairs to Oven Door Glass: Sometimes the glass on the inner oven door can come away as on particular makes of ovens it is put in place with sealant which detiorates over time. We need to make sure that all surfaces are very clean and then we seal the glass back in place. The only problem with this is that the sealant needs to be left for 24 hours to set. So you won’t be able to use the oven for this period.

3. We Replace Bulbs: We routinely replace oven bulbs and we can order new glass clovers for the bulbs too.

Oven Door Hinges Replacement

By Graham Rogers | Uncategorized

We have cleaned literally thousands of ovens over the last four and half years and I have only had to replace the hinges of an oven, because the door wouldn’t close properly, once and really it was difficult to see that it was our fault, the door hinge spring do slacken as they get older.

It took me about 30 minutes and when I changed the hinges the difference was amazing; you really had to put some effort in to open the door.  So in all it is not a common problem at all and if you are looking to use this as an add on to your oven cleaning business I think it’s a non starter.

The Oven Door Doesn’t Shut!

By Graham Rogers | Uncategorized

We had a problem with an oven door that wouldn’t shut last week. The oven was cleaned by Nigel on the Monday and the main oven door wouldn’t close. Nigel didn’t notice at the time but the lady called the office and we got him to go back to try and get it to close properly – the door was staying slightly open – but he couldn’t get it to close fully. I went to have a look on Saturday and after taking off the door a few times, comparing it with the other oven door on the same cooker, I had just about given up when I spotted that the door was being obstructed by an oven tray. I moved the tray and the door closed! On this particular model of cooker, a Delonghi, it has an oven tray that is designed to be put at the bottom of the main oven and it fits in there very nicely; but if you put it on the side racks of the oven it sticks out just a little. I’ll bring this up at our weekly meeting as we need to make sure the Team put the oven trays back into the oven in the right places!

Why oh Why are ALL Student Ovens Dirty?

By Graham Rogers | Uncategorized

Now is our busy season cleaning lots of ovens in student accommodation ready for the new influx of students at the end of the Summer. Yes they do tend to be dirty but we usually get lots of jobs from one landlord and this means they are close together in the town. Landlords are getting wise to the fact that even students don’t want to move into their accommodation and find a greasy oven with last years burnt chips in it. We sometimes wonder if these ovens ever get cleaned during the student year as generally we are greeted by caked on over cooked pizza on the racks and two inches of grease in the ovens and grill pans. And don’t forget those disgusting spills of burnt on egg on the hobs! Before I forget the worst and potentially a fire hazard are greasy extractors; it’s great to see these gleaming like new with fresh new filters in them. All we need to do now is to educate students to use a cleaning cloth occasionally through out the year.
